Welcome to an early look ahead at the Netflix Originals set to arrive on Netflix throughout the world (unless stated overwise) in April 2022. There are a bunch of new movies and shows to look forward to so let’s waste no time in getting into what’s coming soon.
For those unfamiliar with how our previews work. We’ll begin with this article breaking down all the announced Netflix Originals coming in April 2022 here. We’ll then have separate previews for everything coming to Netflix.
Coming to Netflix: Daily Throughout April 2022
Netflix has been slowly expanding its interactive specials selection and perhaps the most interesting title in the format to date will be Trivia Quest which will come to Netflix every day throughout April.
Every day, you’ll be tasked with answering 24 different questions (12 normal and 12 hard).
Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood
Coming to Netflix: April 1st
One of the first major new animated movies of 2022 for Netflix is this new hybrid-animated movie featuring the talents of Zachary Levi and Jack Black.
The coming-of-age story is about a boy witnessing the historical Apollo 11 moon landing. It comes from Richard Linklater who is behind Boyhood and Waking Life.
Get Organized with The Home Edit (Season 2)
Coming to Netflix: April 1st
New episodes of the HelloSunshine series (the production company ran by Reese Witherspoon) that seeks to clean up people’s home with the help of expert home cleaners Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin.
The Bubble
Coming to Netflix: April 1st
Judd Apatow writes and directs this comedy movie that features Karen Gillan, Pedro Pascal, Iris Apatow, and Kate McKinnon. Set in a hotel during the pandemic, we see the cast and crew race against time to put together the sixth movie in a dinosaur fighting franchise.
Metal Lords
Coming to Netflix: April 8th
D.B. Weiss and David Benioff produce this new teen-comedy that could be Netflix’s equivalent of School of Rock. Weiss writes the movie that sees two kids start a band hoping to compete at the Battle of the Bands.
Joe Manganiello, Jaeden Martell, Brett Gelman, Sufe Bradshaw and Katie O’Grady star.
Anatomy of a Scandal
Coming to Netflix: April 15th
A new anthology series based on the Sarah Vaughan novel arrives in the middle of the month. The creator of Big Little Lies and The Undoing is behind this new British crime series.
Sienna Miller, Michelle Dockery, Rupert Friend and Naomi Scott are set to star.
Choose or Die
Coming to Netflix: April 15th
Previously known as CURS>R, this horror thriller will star Sex Education’s Asa Butterfield in the lead role.
Here’s what you can expect from the new movie:
“After firing up a lost 80s survival horror game, a young coder unleashes a hidden curse that tears reality apart, forcing her to make terrifying decisions and face deadly consequences.”
Russian Doll (Season 2)
Coming to Netflix: April 20th
The long-awaited follow-up season to Russian Doll is on the way in April 2022 with another 8 episodes.
Along for the Ride
Coming to Netflix: April 22nd
Adapting the Sarah Dessen book Sofia Alvarez will be writing and directing this feature film due out towards the end of April. We’ve got more on Along for the Ride in our dedicated preview but if you want a brief overview of what you can expect here’s a synopsis:
“The summer before college Auden meets the mysterious Eli, a fellow insomniac. While the seaside town of Colby sleeps, the two embark on a nightly quest to help Auden experience the fun, carefree teen life she never knew she wanted.”
Andie MacDowell, Dermot Mulroney, Kate Bosworth, and Genevieve Hannelius are set to star.
Ozark (Season 4 – Part 2)
Coming to Netflix: April 29th
First debuting in 2017, we’ll soon see Ozark come to an end with its final batch of episodes at the end of April.
Seven episodes will arrive at the end of the month which sees Ruth on a warpath and the cartel internal struggling coming to a head.
Non-English Netflix Originals Coming in April 2022
Pálpito (Season 1)
Coming to Netflix: April 6th
This new Colombian telenovela is about a man who has to watch his wife die and have her heart extracted to give to another woman. He’s out for revenge in the world of organ trafficking.
Starring Ana Lucía Domínguez, Michel Brown and Sebastián Martinez.
Yaksha: Ruthless Operations
Coming to Netflix: April 8th
A new Korean spy-thriller coming exclusively to Netflix and starring Sul Kyung-gu, Park Hae-soo and Hiroyuki Ikeuchi.
Here’s what you can expect:
“On assignment in a perilous city to inspect a Black Ops team and its notorious leader, an upstanding prosecutor steps into a deadly war between spies.”
Tiger & Bunny (Season 2)
Coming to Netflix: April 8th
The anime series returns for another batch of episodes.
Almost Happy / Casi feliz (Season 2)
Coming to Netflix: April 13th
First premiering in May 2020, we’ll see the Argentinian comedy series by Sebastián Wainraich and Hernán Guerschuny return for another batch of episodes in April 2022.
Ultraman (Season 2)
Coming to Netflix: April 14th
Adapting the incredible manga series we’ll see the continuation of Ultraman which first debuted in April 2019.
Here’s what we can expect from the next set of episodes:
“The legendary 6 Ultra Brothers return to face scheming aliens on a cosmic scale.”
The long-awaited follow-up season to Russian Doll is on the way in April 2022 with another 8 episodes.
